Canadian Camo Ltd., Partners with the University of Alberta to Conduct Study Canadian Camo Ltd., announces today its partnership with the University of Alberta's Department of Biological Sciences, for wildlife research programs and specific nature studies. Ottawa, Ontario (PRWEB) April 21, 2005 -- Canadian Camo Ltd., announces today its partnership with the University of Alberta's Department of Biological Sciences, for wildlife research programs and specific nature studies.
The monitoring cameras purchased by the University are part of a wide and growing range of products offered by Canadian Camo for a host of outdoor applications. Outdoor enthusiasts of all kinds, have known of Canadian Camo's extensive product lines since 2001.
"Canadian Camo has dramatically increased it's product lines available for programs of this type," says Greg Black, President and Founder of Canadian Camo Ltd., "We are in a position to penetrate further into this type of relationship, where the company can contribute to the research and conservation efforts of Canadian University studies."
University of Alberta's Department of Biological Sciences current project is a study of whether linear features such as roads, pipelines, and seismic lines potentially change the hunting behavior of a wide variety of species. Some species avoid linear features while others are attracted to lines due to the reduced costs of travel. This project is evaluating whether linear features alter the behavior of a wide variety of predators that destroy forest songbird nests.
The Bushnell camera systems provided by Canadian Camo are being used in conjunction with traditional hair snare methods to determine whether mustelids, canids, and possibly bears are using linear feature edges more frequently than forest interiors.
Dr. Erin Bayne, Assistant Professor of the Department of Biological Sciences, says "The camera systems provide us a unique insight into what predators might be responsible for nest predation events that has not been possible with traditional methods. They also allow us to determine what snaring methods are missing which is critical in assessing predation risk for forest birds."
Greg Black, President and Founder, Canadian Camo Ltd., says: "Canadian Camo will continue to maintain an aggressive growth pattern by providing superior products and services, and by supporting educational, recreational and social programs which benefit Canadian outdoor enthusiasts of all kinds, in the most positive ways possible."
