Laced with irony and dark situational humor, “Six Feet Under” approaches the subject of death through the eyes of the Fisher Family Funeral Home and the S4 Prime lenses of Cooke Optics.

The HBO award-winning funeral home dramatic television series – now in its fifth and final season – features lead performances by Rachel Griffiths, Peter Krause, Michael C. Hall and Frances Conroy.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Indie mainstay Jim Denault – the cinematographer behind such titles as 1999’s “Boys Don’t Cry,” 2001’s “The Believer” and 1994’s “Maria Full of Grace” – has become HBO’s go-to-guy for series lensing. After wrapping the latest season of “Carnivale,” Denault is digging into “Six Feet Under.”

Denault said that working on the series is helping water the roots. “It’s a totally different experience from what I’m used to, but at the same time, there’s an Indie mentality with the HBO crews. We’re just working on a larger canvas with a bit more money,” Denault said. Denault is shooting “Six Feet Under” in tandem with cinematographer Rob Sweeney (“Blue Car”). Sweeney recently shot some first unit on “Team America: World Police” with lead DP Bill Pope’s blessing.
