Thailand Summer Break For Teachers with Starfish Ventures

Qualified teachers: take time off in Thailand and help Thai children improve their English this summer.

(PRWEB) May 8, 2005 -- Starfish Ventures is looking for experienced teachers to take part in a four week English teaching program in rural Thailand. Immerse yourself in traditional Thai life, experience the local culture, and spend your summer with some of the world's friendliest people. At the same time you'll be helping their children prepare for a better future. By working as a teacher in Surin you will experience Thailand not as a tourist but as a valued member of the local community.

Our teacher volunteers will be working in groups at four three-day English camps. Volunteer teachers will plan and teach their own lessons, with Starfish providing plenty of examples to help generate ideas and inspiration. Teachers are revered members of the Thai community and Thai children, whilst fun loving and endlessly energetic like all kids, are also very keen to learn. Its an ideal way to get a new perspective on teaching and make a big difference in a short time to the lives of these Thai children.

Starfish volunteers are looked after every step of the way during their Venture by June, the companys In Country Co-Ordinator. June is an experienced Thai travel guide who speaks fluent English -- she is on hand to help volunteers settle into life in Surin and to get the most out of their stay. If volunteers have any problems or questions, June is there to help them out. Starfish makes sure that volunteers quickly feel at home in Thailand and can enjoy their Venture to the full.

As well as spending time teaching the children and learning about Thai life, the Teacher Summer Break includes plenty of time for recreation. Our Venture includes two one day excursions, plus three days on one of Thailand's most spectacular islands, Koh Samet. Volunteers also have four days free in the middle of their Venture to go travelling independently.

The Starfish Ventures Teacher Summer Break is located in Surin, a bustling market town about 450 kilometres north east of Bangkok. Surin is the perfect destination for more adventurous travellers to explore but remains an unspoilt, fascinating part of Thailand which lets visitors experience Thai life away from the tourist crowds. Don't be surprised to see elephants walking down the town streets or eating foliage by the country roadsides: Surin is famed for its annual Elephant Festival and also for its magnificent examples of ancient Khmer temples, which are related to Cambodia's Angkor Wat.

Surin is ideally placed to explore other parts of Thailand during your stay. The mountains in the North and the islands in the Gulf are only an overnight bus ride away, whilst the Thai-Cambodia border is only a few hours away. There are numerous fantastic places to spend your free weekends.
