Back to Africa: US Foundation Reaches Out to Students in Africa

The Africa Education Initiative, a non profit organisation in Connecticut has one mission in mind: the advancement of science in Africa. Members and volunteers are set to embark on a week long trip to teach specialized science courses in institutions in Nigeria.

(PRWEB) May 12, 2005 -- Members and volunteers of The Africa Education Initiative (NEF), a non-profit organization in Mystic are set to travel to Africa to reach out to students and schools in Nigeria, a West African country. They have one mission in mind: to help advance science in Africa. The team led by the president of the foundation, Dr. Chudy Nduaka will participate in an annual lecture series in specialized scientific subjects organized by the local branch of the foundation. The team will also donate books, journals, computers and other educational materials to the local schools.

Over time, the foundation has worked with several African countries including Nigeria Ghana and Liberia to assist educational institutions and schools with library enhancement (books, journals), technology enhancement (computers, laboratory equipment), scholarships and internship programs. They have also launched an HIV/AIDS prevention program in hospitals in Liberia.

In a letter to African officials, Congressman Rob Simmons of Connecticuts Second District, praised the organization for their efforts and implored the officials to fully support their endeavor.
