Mizuho Securities USA Relies on Tidal's Job Scheduler to Drive Front and Back Office Systems and Simplify Audit Management Centralized Enterprise Job Scheduling Increases Efficiency, and Visibility into Business Process Performance Palo Alto, California (PRWEB) May 12, 2009 -- Tidal Software (www.tidalsoftware.com), a leading provider of application scheduling and performance management software, today announced that Mizuho Securities USA Inc. ("MSUSA") has successfully deployed the Tidal Enterprise Scheduler to manage an increasingly complex set of front and back office jobs that the company runs daily. In addition, the Tidal Enterprise Scheduler provides a single source from which to control all the jobs MSUSA runs and it provides them with the audit trail they need to be in compliance with SOX audit requirements.
As a securities broker-dealer, MSUSA relies on accurate, rigorous, data processing daily for reconciliation and reporting. Therefore, improving efficiency, reliability, and control are paramount to the company's continued growth. Tidal's solutions are an important part of MSUSA's IT mix, and enable the company to improve the way it drives data through all of its systems.
"We run many complex, end-of-day processes through our systems," said Sandy Kapoor, MSUSA's CTO. "At the end of each trading day, we need to consolidate & compile data from various front office and back office systems for management reporting, financial reporting, risk analysis and reconciliation purposes. Tidal allows us to complete these complex tasks while taking into account all the intricate dependencies that are required for the successful completion of the nightly run, and all from a central location with complete audit trails."
Many of the MSUSA's critical trading applications are dependent on Tidal. For example, the front office systems rely on feeds from the back office systems for start-of-day positions. MSUSA counts on Tidal to make these critical processes run reliably.
"Since integrating our systems through Tidal, we've been able to create a standard template for how certain types of jobs are tested, deployed and monitored. It has definitely made it much easier to rapidly deploy new production jobs," said Evan Frey, senior Linux engineer at MSUSA. "From the service level standpoint, which is just as important if not more so than rolling out new items. We have definitely improved our capabilities. Tidal provides us with centralized job scheduling, ease of monitoring and, detailed logs to help troubleshoot failed jobs. In addition, Tidal sends alerts to Mizuho's application support team if any failures occur in the job processes."
"These alerts are then automatically routed to the right team member depending on the criticality of the failure," Fry continued. "We recently deployed a risk application with something like 30 jobs in a fraction of the time it would have taken us without Tidal. That deployment contained the largest subset of jobs and inter-job dependencies we had ever deployed."
"Tidal's infrastructure has allowed us to more easily and reliably support our business. It has allowed us to build complex dependencies in the job process and take action when a critical task fails" said Kapoor. "Since Tidal is tightly integrated into our IT support structure, as long as we classify the alerts correctly, the appropriate support team will be notified and can then take corrective action immediately."
Tidal has allowed greater streamlining when deploying applications, and it provides far better monitoring. Perhaps the biggest benefit of the Tidal deployment is having a centralized scheduling system. "From a management perspective, it's great to have everything in one place" said Frey.
"Having a central point of control for mission critical jobs is vital to many businesses. Tidal Enterprise Scheduler provides this point of control that allows IT visibility into the critical jobs on which the business rely." said Thomas Hooker, vice president of marketing at Tidal Software. "The user friendly GUI has continues to win high marks from both customers and analyst and continues to be an area of focus for us."
