EuroGamer launches GameDB

Tuesday, 03 April 2001 - Brighton, UK: EuroGamer launches GameDB, a

syndicated database of multi-platform game reference material. Aimed

at e-commerce operators, GameDB contains a wealth of information on

over 500 current and upcoming games and is on track to reach 1000

games in May.

GameDB provides an instant reference library empowering customers to

make informed purchase decisions without leaving the operator's

domain. The GameDB contains game descriptions, vital details, user

reviews and ratings, recommendations, links to 'demo' files and media

links such as movies and screenshots. Eurogamer's high quality

syndicated editorial previews and reviews are also available from

GameDB.

EuroGamer's Marketing Director Mat Bettinson said, "Potential

customers of e-commerce operators are increasingly exploiting the Web

to make informed decisions about which products to buy. This is

especially the case when it comes to entertainment software. GameDB

provides customers compelling content 'on site', avoiding losing

customers to competitors."

Additional features of EuroGamer's GameDB include regular updates

covering products in advance of release for pre-order tie-ins. The

database is automatically purged of expired links and contains a

wealth of unique media sourced by EuroGamer's journalists.

Gameplay.com's Internet Manager Mat Braddy comments, "Our philosophy has

always been to build trust with customers. In practice this means

warning customers that a game may suck and recommending another.

GameDB is a great system for delivering this kind of information."

EuroGamer provides a range of flexible content formats and delivery

mechanisms for the GameDB. Content formats include XML, templated HTML

and SQL database-ready files. These ensure the GameDB can be

incorporated into existing branding quickly and seamlessly.

EuroGamer's Technical Director Nick Loman adds, "EuroGamer can help

integrate our GameDB content with your product catalog for a

compelling user experience in a cost-effective way."
