eLearning DevCon 2009 Announces Keynote Speakers

eLearning DevCon, the premier eLearning developers conference, announced today two keynote speakers for this year's event: Dan Kazup from KPMG, and Bill Horton of William Horton Consulting.

(PRWEB) May 16, 2009 -- eLearning DevCon, which holds an annual conference specifically for eLearning developers and other professionals, announced today their two keynote speakers for this year's event: Bill Horton, from William Horton Consulting; and Dan Kazup, from KPMG.

eLearning DevCon -- commonly referred to simply as DevCon -- is holding its 6th [is this right?? annual conference June 17-19 this summer in Salt Lake City, UT. While many conferences throughout the country have seen registrations plummet this year due to the economy, DevCon has actually seen its registrations higher than the same time last year. Garin Hess, eLearning DevCon's Executive Director, attributes this to the conference's reputation of providing practical solutions to today's eLearning challenges.

"We focus on three things for this conference: no fluff, no high prices, and a heavy focus on development. These three things have always informed the way we've organized DevCon. And this year, even when the economy is bad, people realize that unlike many other conferences, DevCon provides a very clear return on investment and practical skills that you can take home and begin using right away," says Hess.

Keynote speaker Dan Kazup agrees that this conference is different: "I'm really pleased to be speaking at eLearning DevCon this year. At KPMG we do a lot of e-learning development and this conference is so different--so focused on actually getting things done. It is a real breath of fresh air compared to a lot of other conferences in our industry."

Bill Horton, the other keynote speaker for this year's event, also had positive things to say about the conference and its focus on practical learning: "As consultants, we've helped a lot of e-learning designers and developers over the years and eLearning DevCon has an excellent reputation for being a no-nonsense conference where you actually learn real skills. So I'm thrilled with the opportunity to speak this year."

Aside from the two speakers, the keynote event will also include a catered dinner and live entertainment. Past performers have included musical and comedy groups. The conference itself will feature more than 70 sessions on various eLearning topics, including many sessions that DevCon refers to as BYOL--Bring Your Own Laptop. These are hands-on instruction sessions that allow the attendees to see how something is done and then to try it out themselves, with the instructor mentoring the process.
