NTS Silicon Valley Achieves CAB Accreditation for Wireless Testing

National Technical Systems expands its wireless testing and certification services at its Silicon Valley facility. The European Commission has recently confirmed its Conformity Assessment Body (CAB) status. The new "Notified Body" designation allows NTS to provide conformity assessments of radio communications devices like WiFi, WLAN, Bluetooth, RID, and short-range devices.

Sunnyvale, CA (PRWEB) May 18, 2009 -- In an important expansion to its wireless testing and certification capabilities, National Technical Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: NTSC) through NTS Silicon Valley (Elliott Laboratories, LLC) has recently been confirmed by the European Commission as a Conformity Assessment Body (CAB), also referred to as a "Notified Body" under the Radio & Telecommunications Terminal Equipment Directive.

The European Community (EC) has established a mutual recognition scheme for regulated products and under its "new approach to technical harmonization of standards" each EC country is required to provide to the EC a list of laboratories and other bodies (referred to as "notified bodies") which can declare that a regulated product conforms to the essential requirements detailed in the applicable directive. NTS Silicon Valley is now one of these "notified bodies" and is authorized to issue these formal declarations of product conformity.

"The recent achievement of our CAB accreditation is an important element of our strategy for the expansion of our wireless services (http://www.ntscorp.com/services/ComputerElectronicProducts/TestingServices/Wireless/) portfolio," said Eddie Pavlu, General Manager of NTS Silicon Valley. "Our goal is to develop a 'one-stop-shopping' experience for a wide range of wireless device manufacturers, which will eliminate the added costs and complexities of working with multiple service providers to achieve certifications needed to market products all over the world."

NTS Silicon Valley's services as an R&TTE Notified Body include conformity assessments of radio communications devices (such as WiFi (http://www.ntscorp.com/services/ComputerElectronicProducts/TestingServices/Wireless/Wi-FiProductTesting), WLAN, Bluetooth (http://www.ntscorp.com/services/ComputerElectronicProducts/TestingServices/Wireless/BluetoothTesting), RFID and short range devices) in accordance with Annex III and Annex IV. The services of a Notified Body are required for radio communications devices that have not been evaluated to harmonized standards. However, many manufacturers request a Notified Body opinion for products evaluated against harmonized standards simply to provide an independent opinion regarding the compliance of their products. NTS Silicon Valley's Notified Body Number (under the name Elliott Laboratories, LLC) is 2155 and can be confirmed on the Europa website (http://www.rtteca.com/html/about_members.htm).
