Tere Morris Brings in More Cash for Great Causes The Jonsson Cancer Center Foundation's "A Taste for a Cure 2009", Wheels for Humanity, Love Cures Cancer, and the YMCA 2009 Focus Awards are just some of the charitable events that have succeeded in raising funds in this difficult financial climate. Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) May 18, 2009 -- While many could say that charitable fund-raising should be a challenge in the current economic climate, actress and celebrity auctioneer Tere Morris offers a brighter outlook. "2009 could be my best year yet for raising money to fund important causes," said Ms. Morris. According to Ms. Morris, fundraising events that are relevant and exciting should not fear this downturn. Ms. Morris feels that some fund raising opportunities are greater with the current financial situation.
"Many charity-event attendees have withheld spending on non-essential items, but are very willing to give some of their conserved cash in order to help others." Ms. Morris adds, "Buying luxury items or taking lavish vacations is more rewarding and politically correct when done in aid of a good cause."
As a case in point, the Jonsson Cancer Center Foundation's "A taste for a Cure 2009" raised over $175,000 with the aid of Ms. Morris at the gavel in Beverly Hills. A VIP vacation to Australia sold for $27,000. Another popular item was a NAPA Valley excursion that went for $11,000. Ms. Morris noted that Seth McFarlane helped raise the bidding spirit with his "Family Guy" voice improvisations during that evening. Fox Television was the premier sponsor and Fox's Dana Walden and Gary Newman received the Gil Nickel Humanitarian Award, presented by actor Keifer Sutherland.
So far this year, Tere Morris has exceeded fundraising expectations for some other notable causes. UCP Wheels for Humanity, Love Cures Cancer, the YMCA Focus Awards 2009, and AIDS LA. Rated by Biz Bash Magazine as one of four of L.A.'s top auctioneers (http://www.bizbash.com/losangeles/content/editorial/9936_four_of_l_a_s_top_auctioneers.php), Ms. Morris offers some final advice for those involved with fundraising in the current climate, "To reach fundraising goals, the event needs to have a good balance of unique high-ticket and moderately priced items to encourage maximum participation by the attendees."
