Musician Nick Venturella Kicks Off a Hot Summer Madison, WI-based musician, Nick Venturella kicks off the summer with a line up of performances including a possible slot at Summerfest. Venturella works on licensing his music, and continues writing for his next album, "SweetSonic." (PRWEB) May 24, 2005 -- Neo-folk/rock singer/songwriter Nick Venturella kicks off what is shaping up to be positive summer. Venturella a Waukesha, WI native for the past 15 years, who now calls Madison home, recently performed for a packed house at Sprizzo Gallery Caffe (378 W. Main St.) in Waukesha during the citys Art Crawl at the beginning of May. Venturella will be making another Sprizzo appearance on Saturday June 4, 2005 (show starts at 8:00pm).
Venturella, 25, has been primarily performing on college campuses in the upper Midwest to support his 2004 release, Linear Cycle of the Seasons. But with school being out for the summer Venturella welcomes the chance get back to the coffeehouse shows that started off his career.
Venturella will follow his Sprizzo performance with another java stop at Victor Allens Coffee (2623 Monroe St.) Madison, WI on Saturday June 11, 2005 beginning at 7:00pm. Then Venturella will be appearing at the Hue Art Gallery (1934 Monroe St.) Madison, WI to kick off an art exhibit opening on Friday June 17, 2005 starting at 7:00pm.
Venturella is also currently on stand-by waiting for acceptance to perform at this summers Big Gig, Summerfest.
Venturella has also been approached by the Portland, OR music identity firm, Rumblefish, to become one of their artist members opening up licensing opportunities for Venturellas music.
As Venturella lines up more college shows for the upcoming fall school year he is continually writing new material for his next album, SweetSonic, currently slated for release in summer 2006.
On each of Venturellas three previous full-length records he has crafted a theme or concept that follows a plot throughout the album much like a short story. Often inspired by the theme of each album, Venturella, using his visual arts background, illustrates images to convey the content of the record.
Venturellas latest effort, Linear Cycle of the Seasons (OatMeal Records, August 2004), takes the listener through the seasons of the year beginning with fall and proceeding to winter, spring, and summer. The sonic moods and content of the songs reflect the seasons as they parallel the patterns that life and relationships create.
SweetSonic will be no exception to the string of concept albums Venturellas prolific nature creates, Venturella explains, The story that SweetSonic will tell and depict will be a bit of a loose social commentary regarding the efforts many of us go through to detach and/or distract ourselves from the chaotic things going on around us. This, is often in an effort to lose ourselves in a glimpse of ignorant bliss, or as a positive connotation, to feel alive with the ever-fleeting observations lifes little beauties. The album will be more poppy than some of my previous work, but still steeped in love, life, and relationships."
To more fully realize the feat of Venturellas work and talent you have to further examine his D.I.Y. ethos. Not only does Venturella write and perform his music and create his artwork, but he also records and produces his own albums, usually performing all the instruments recorded, releases his albums under his private OatMeal Records label, books his own shows, and supports the music community as a Wisconsin Area Music Industry (WAMI) member and National Association for Campus Activities (NACA) member.
