MAKE UP FOR EVER Creator Dany Sanz Becomes Surprise Portrait Muse to Pop Artist Olan in NYC Celebration

MAKE UP FOR EVER creator Dany Sanz became a surprise Portrait Muse to Pop Artist 'Olan' in a private celebration held in her honor on May 20th at EZ Studios in Manhattan. The portrait was an actual event at the celebration with famed pop artist Olan Montgomery painting the final touches on his masterpiece during the party. Artist Olan is known for his works of such notables as Courtney Love, Alan Cumming, Rufus Wainwright and Anne Hathaway among others.

New York, NY (PRWEB) May 22, 2009 -- What better gift to give an artist than the gift of art, painted on the spot right in front of their every own eyes? That was certainly the case on Wednesday night in New York when MAKE UP FOR EVER held an invitation only celebration honoring the creator of the make up brand Dany Sanz currently on her 'World Tour' promoting '25 years of Artistry and Education' for her make up brand MAKE UP FOR EVER.

"Art has many mediums and the art of make up is a very intimate one. I am honored to have painted such a wonderful and beautiful muse," states Olan as he hands over his completed work of art to the creator of MAKE UP FOR EVER at their private event in honor of the companies 25th Anniversary held at EZ Studios in New York City on 37th Street where Mrs. Sanz was honored with her very own pop art portrait.

Dany Sanz, an artist herself, was quite surprised to become one of many honored Muses to pop artist 'Olan' at the celebration held by her 'Tribe' , what she likes to call her fellow make-up business partners. "I have always wanted a portrait and never done one," stated Mrs. Sanz with her heavy French accent as she clasp her hands to her chest seeing the painting for the first time.

The portrait was an actual event at the celebration with famed pop artist Olan Montgomery painting his masterpiece during the party. "I actually started the work last month and saved the detail for tonight. It does take some time to create an Olan, at least more than a few hours," said the artist. Olan is known for his iconic works of such notables as Courtney Love, Alan Cumming, Rufus Wainwright and Anne Hathaway among others.

The vibrant 55x55x1.5 inch portrait is filled with color including florescent red paint in her eyes in which one can read the company name MAKE UP FOR EVER. "It could be thought of as a corporate thing but in reality I wanted to reflect Dany's original dream to create this company as a metaphor in her eyes and like she said to me her company and the people in it mean everything to her," states Olan.

"I think she is a wonderful example of an artist having an idea, living it and using her artistic abilities and talent to spread that dream to others. She sets an example for us all," says Olan.

Noted head of Paper Magazine Mickey Boardman, also an Olan muse, was seen at the event along with many of the companies noted artists including Director of Pro Business Development & Artist Relations Kevin-James Bennett and Make Up Artist James Vincent. Musican Sarah Barr sang at the celebration as well.

The Projects Coordinator in charge of arranging the portrait, Gina Gina Pallozzi, Executive Director of Communications for the Make-up company stated the idea was simply "brilliant' especially since Dany Sanz is an artist herself.

About the Artist:

The artist's work is a visual stimulation to remind people to simply look at one another and see through the layers of a complex personality. According to Olan, "In our world today fame and pop stardom are sometimes reduced to '5 seconds of fame,' In some respects we can blame or thank the mass media for contributing to a jaded social value of 'been there, done that.' Regardless, my work is an effort to capture an essence within that fleeting context and place it into a perpetual freeze-frame."

Olan is also known for his tribute to local bank tellers at Chase Manhattan in New York written about by the New York Times in an article entitled "Tellers in Tangerine" published in 2003 where the artist created art about a segment of society asking the viewer to simply "look more closely at the individual standing beside you." Olan has created art of many noted celebrities and been written about and published by magazines like NY Arts, The Village Voice and Heeb by writers such as pop culture guru Michael Musto.

Olan further states about his art, "My work has a simple message: see the individual through color and light. By doing so, one's individuality can be more fully understood."
