Children Can Follow Ranulph's Footsteps on a Trek Around Everest

Children may be a little too young to tackle Everest just yet, but that doesn't mean that they can't follow in Ranulph's footsteps and take a family trek to the Everest region.

(PRWEB) May 26, 2009 -- Sir Ranulph Fiennes has successfully conquered Everest on his third attempt after starting his mission from the Nepali side of Everest Base camp. The intrepid adventurer had chosen to approach the peak from the Tibetan side on his last two attempts, but due to the Olympic torch being carried through Tibet on May 10-11 it was not possible to approach from this side on his third attempt.

However, Sir Ranulph was pleasantly surprised with the change of scenery, telling reporters in Sagarmatha National Park, "Compared with my attempt to climb Everest from Tibet three years ago and the approach to the Everest Base camp on the Tibetan side - the Nepali side is wonderful". This is something that Mountain Kingdoms have always known and why they choose to offer the Nepali saide of Everest Base Camp while a lot of other adventure tour operators start their Everest treks from the North at Tibet.

There are two different base camps on opposite sides of Mount Everest and whilst the Tibetan side offers vehicle access, the Nepali side is thought to be better for acclimatisation. This means that the walking trails around the Nepal area are also easier for smaller legs, particularly lower down the route to Everest Base Camp, and because of this Mountain Kingdoms are able to offer specialist family treks in the Everest region. These are very popular with families that wish to do something more adventurous on their holidays than spend a fortnight on a typical sun and sea package.
