Mailshell OEM Partners Earn Kudos, Grab Honors, Versus Competitors Mailshell congratulates three of its OEM partners on earning great review and awards for products that include Mailshell technology. San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) May 26, 2009 -- Mailshell, the leading provider of SDKs for traffic reputation, anti-spam and anti-phishing to OEMs, today extended congratulations to several of its OEM partners whose products recently earned awards for their excellent spam detection rates, both in stand-alone independent tests and in shoot-outs, versus their competitors. Partners' recent wins include Messaging Architects becoming the first recipient of VB Platinum certification for anti-spam, SC Magazine's review of SmoothWall's 1000-UTM appliance and Eset Smart Security's top marks in a leading consumer reporting magazine. Each of these award winners integrates Mailshell engines into its products; thousands of companies and millions of end-users rely on filters that use Mailshell's engines to quantify traffic reputation, and block email spam and phishing.
"We're honored to have each of these winning companies as our partner," said Tonny Yu, CEO of Mailshell. "Although Mailshell's engines are only a piece of each OEM's overall success, we're thrilled to add value that translates into impressive reviews, and shoot-out wins, for our partners."
Messaging Architects, creators of M+ Guardian email filters, became the first recipient of Virus Bulletin's VBSpam Platinum award. In its May 2009 comparative tests, Virus Bulletin cited M+ Guardian's, "spam catch rate more than twice as high and a false positive rate more than twice as low as the average in the test." Messaging Architects recently added Mailshell's engine to improve its detection rates.
SC Magazine recently reviewed the SmoothGuard 1000-UTM appliance from SmoothWall. The product received an overall score of four stars, and glowing comments about several components including its web filtering, range of security features, and hardware specification. Additionally, the review cited the product's "top anti-spam" and added, "the results were very impressive: the appliance caught every bit of spam that came in."
The June 2009 issue of the U.S.' leading consumer reports magazine includes a review of internet security products for consumers. Eset Smart Security, created by Mailshell OEM partner Eset, was rated highest among subscription suites, above 10 other products including those from Symantec, Microsoft, Kaspersky, Zone Alarm and others. The comprehensive reviews also compared each product's spam filter; Eset's overall spam filter was rated as "excellent", the highest rating available.
Each of these products also uses Mailshell LiveFeed, a real-time data service that quantifies traffic reputation via advanced statistical models. Unlike other reputation services that provide only a binary 'good' or 'bad' rating, LiveFeed provides granular trust ratings with automated adjustment over time as reputations change. By focusing reputation on mathematical models, rather than simply an 'IP black list' approach, LiveFeed provides more accurate, highly scalable detection.
Mailshell is the leading provider of email reputation, anti-spam and anti-phishing engines for OEMs. Via its global network of OEM partners, including McAfee, Check Point, CA, Webroot, AVG and others, thousands of enterprises and millions of end users rely on 'Powered by Mailshell' filters for near real-time protection against emerging threats. Mailshell's software helps its OEM partners generate new revenue, up-sell existing products to new customers and minimize related engineering and support costs.
