Vanna Bonta Guest on "Other Side of Sky" Radio Show KUPR-FM (91.7)

Vanna Bonta will be a guest on The Other Side of the Sky," the weekly radio show hosted by Dr. Alan Hale, of Comet Hale-Bopp fame.

Alamogordo, NM (PRWEB) May 29, 2005 -- Vanna Bonta will be a guest on The Other Side of the Sky," the weekly radio show hosted by Alan Hale, of Comet Hale-Bopp fame. The show airs live Saturday afternoon, May 28 from 2:00 to 4:00 (Mountain time) on KUPR-FM (91.7) in Alamogordo, New Mexico.

Bonta is a founding contributor of Earthrise, Dr. Hales endeavor to create an astronomical education center that will give students, which he defines as anyone of any age interested in learning about the universe, an opportunity to participate in astronomy-related activities, up to and including ongoing research.

The Earthrise development site is immediately adjacent to the historic spot from which the great Comet Hale-Bopp was discovered. The site will hold several telescopes, which can be utilized either on-site or in a remote-control capacity. The ultimate Earthrise goal is to create a global network of partner facilities, encouraging participants to form international collaborations.

Through exploration and observation of Space and a cosmos of which Earth is a small part, Dr. Hales vision is that Earthrise students perception will supersede international and intercultural barriers to realize a common humanity, united toward benefits and wonders awaiting discovery.

July 23 will mark the 10-year anniversary of the discovery of Comet Hale-Bopp by director of Southwest Institute for Space Research Alan Hale, and Thomas Bopp of Arizona on July 23, 1995. A special celebration will be held at the Tay Special Events Center in Alamogordo, New Mexico in partnership with the New Mexico Museum of Space History.

The event will feature speakers from a variety of astronomy and space-related fields, including astronauts, astronomers, celebrated artists, and some of Hales international colleagues from Iran and elsewhere who will illustrate the international nature of Earthrise.

Alan Hale has been hosting his weekly radio program since May of 2004. The show "The Other Side of the Sky" is named after the collection of short stories by Arthur C. Clarke. Each week covers the spectrum of musical genres, and artist and music submissions are encouraged. A special weekly feature, "Songs From the Earth," features music from nations and cultures all over the planet. The show is also a forum for thought-provoking discussion of various current topics, events, featuring special guests for interviews.

Hales program was one of the first stations to air Vanna Bontas What Goes Up" for lucky listeners. Bontas DVD, described as a musical trance fusion" of humankinds dream to fly, was inspired when she witnessed SpaceShipOne, the first privately funded space flight.
