Academy Award Winning Actress Hayley Mills to be Sworn In as a Lifetime Member of the Girl Scouts of America in NYC

Academy Award winning actress, Hayley Mills will be sworn in as a lifetime member of The Girl Scouts of America on Saturday, June 4, 2005. The ceremony will take place in Joe Franklin’s Club inside Charlie O’s Restaurant, 713 8th Avenue at 45th Street in Manhattan, NY. The time will be 4:30 pm. Academy Award winning actress, Hayley Mills will be sworn in as a lifetime member of The Girl Scouts of America on Saturday, June 4, 2005. The ceremony will take place in Joe Franklin’s Club inside Charlie O’s Restaurant, 713 8th Avenue at 45th Street in Manhattan, NY. The time will be 4:30 pm. Miss Mills currently resides both in England, and in her adopted city of New York.

On April 2, 2005, Hayley Mills addressed the Girl Scouts, Arizona Cactus-Pine Council, at their first annual “Pollyanna Days” celebration. More than 1200 Girl Scouts, their leaders, and families were in attendance. Hayley’s discussion focused on the importance of positive values. She also spoke about her close relationship with her family, her career, and she shared memories of her performance in the Walt Disney motion picture Pollyanna, for which she received an Oscar. The audience just adored the Hayley of today and listened intently when she spoke about good values, education, and family. It will be Lisa Titmas, vested Junior Girl Scout troop leader of the Arizona Cactus-Pine Council who will travel to New York to conduct Miss Mills‘ investiture into the Girl Scouts.

Hayley Mills rocketed to stardom in 1960 when Walt Disney cast the twelve year old British actress in the starring role of his classic motion picture “Pollyanna.” Miss Mills was awarded a special Oscar by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for her portrayal of the “always optimistic“ young lady. At the same time, she found a place in the hearts of moviegoers worldwide. Her next feature for Disney was “The Parent Trap” which solidified her fan base, made her the heartthrob of millions of teenage boys, and put her at the top of the Billboard record charts with her hit recording of “Let’s Get Together.” Her string of movie triumphs throughout the 1960s is legendary, and her successes in movies, TV, and on the stage has never abated. Today’s youngsters still enjoy the reruns of Hayley‘s portrayal of junior high school teacher “Miss Bliss” on the TV sitcom “Saved by the Bell.” Today, Hayley Mills is seen frequently in live, theatrical productions in the USA and abroad. She is truly, “a star for all generations.”

Hayley Mills’ father was renowned actor and Academy Award winner Sir John Mills. Hayley’s mother, Mary Hayley Bell Mills, is a prolific playwright. Hayley’s sister, the Emmy winning actress Juliet Mills gained popularity in 1970 starring on the TV program “Nanny and the Professor.” Juliet Mills can currently be seen Monday through Friday on the NBC daytime drama “Passions.”
