City of Oklahoma City Wins 2009 IIMC Program Excellence in Governance Award

Oklahoma City Clerk receives award at annual IIMC conference. The award recognizes City Clerks who have implemented innovative programs designed to benefit their communities and citizens.

Salt Lake City, UT (Vocus) June 2, 2009 -- The 2009 Program Excellence in Governance award (http://sire-cntl-vid01.siretechnologies.com/SIRE/SIRE/OklahomaCityAward.wmv) was presented to Frances Kersey, MMC, City Clerk of The City of Oklahoma City at the 63rd Annual International Institute of Municipal Clerk's (IIMC) Conference in Chicago, Illinois. The award was created to foster excellence in governance and to enhance participation by IIMC members in their government entity and community.

Ms. Kersey received the award for her innovative way of collaborating with other municipal departments to deliver better service to the citizens through an automated Agenda Management System. The system, provided by SIRE Technologies (http://www.siretechnologies.com/), is benefitting citizens by providing access to the different meeting agendas on the City's website prior to the meeting, and approved documents as well as meeting minutes after the meeting.

The program also benefits the City's citizens through time and manpower savings, which in return improves department efficiency and allows employees to be more productive. The Agenda Management System eliminates at least 300 man-hours annually that were previously required to manually process agenda items by walking them from department to department for approval.

Since implementing the Agenda Management System, paper copies of agenda packets have decreased dramatically. And, because the entire system is built on SIRE's document management backend, documents related to the agenda items are much easier to locate and retrieve online.

"The electronic Agenda Management System allows businesses, government, and citizens to access documents and information 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This is a commendable effort for a small city department.
