Chamber Players International Presents Special Concert Inspired by Poetry of Walt Whitman

June 11 at The Unitarian Universalist Center in Manhasset, New York Celebrates 150th Anniversary of Leaves of Grass

(PRWEB) June 8, 2005 -- Chamber Players International will present a very special concert of songs inspired by and readings of the poetry of Walt Whitman on Saturday, June 11, 2005, 1:30 PM at The Unitarian Universalist Center, 48 Shelter Rock Road (just south of Route 25A) in Manhasset, New York. The concert will be immediately preceded by a champagne brunch at 12 noon.

Working in cooperation with Paul Sperry, CPI will present a program inspired by the poetry of Walt Whitman, including songs by Kurt Weill, Paul Hindemith, Lee Hoiby, Leonard Bernstein, Elliott Carter, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Charles Ives, Ned Rorem and others as well as readings of the masters poetry. This program is being presented as a celebration of the 150th anniversary of the first printing of Leaves of Grass.

Performers for this program will include soprano Sherry Overholt, mezzo soprano Krista River, tenor Michael Barimo, baritone Lee Velta, reader Robert Rene Galvan and other soloists to be announced.

Tickets for the 1:30 concert alone are $25. The concert will be preceded by an optional champagne brunch at noon. Tickets for the champagne brunch and concert are $60, with group rates available.
