Aflac President to Speak Out in Boston

Paul S. Amos II, President of Aflac and Chief Operating Officer of Aflac, U.S., will offer his unique insight on how American workers are grappling with health care and insurance needs in a dynamic economy as part of The American College Knowledge Summit on October 30 in Boston.

Bryn Mawr, PA (PRWEB) June 9, 2009 -- Paul S. Amos II, President of Aflac and Chief Operating Officer of Aflac, U.S., will offer his unique insight on how American workers are grappling with health care and insurance needs in a dynamic economy as part of The American College Knowledge Summit on October 30 in Boston.

Amos is the third generation of family members to lead Aflac, a Fortune 500 company that has received international praise for its branding, product alignment and affordability at a time when insurance premiums are skyrocketing. Since arriving at Aflac in 2002, Amos steadily progressed in his roles, assuming responsibilities as Executive Vice President in January 2005, advancing to Chief Operating Officer in February 2006 and becoming President in January 2007.

Amos will join the CEO's of State Farm, MetLife and Penn Mutual as part of an executive roundtable hosted by former Oklahoma governor Frank Keating. The Knowledge Summit is the nation's largest non-commercial, education-rich meeting that addresses serious subjects related to financial planning, insurance and ethics. Over 1000 professionals are expected to attend the meeting at The Boston Park Plaza.

"Paul Amos is one of the unique, driven thought leaders in financial services" notes Larry Barton, Ph.D., President and CEO of The American College. "The company's innovation has a foundation in marketing, but millions of Americans know and trust Aflac at a time when there is suspicion about the health of many insurance companies. Paul is a driving force behind that success."

As president, Amos strives to continue building the Aflac community, emphasizing a focus on small businesses and Hispanic communities, as he feels they are two areas that have not been well-served by the insurance industry. His other responsibilities as president include broadening the company's marketing plan, creating a new broker channel and sharpening the recruiting and training tools for all of Aflac's sales associates.

Prior to joining Aflac, Amos worked at the Washington, D.C. firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher and Flom.

Amos' education includes a bachelor's degree in economics from Duke University, a master's degree in business administration from Emory University and a juris doctor degree from Tulane University. He serves on the board of directors for numerous organizations, including Aflac Incorporated, the Winship Cancer Center at Emory University, the Turner School of Business at Columbus State University and the Make-a-Wish Foundation of Southwest Georgia.

Each year, The American College Knowledge Summit gathers the top thought leaders of the financial services industry for four days full of networking and education. Attendees have the opportunity to hear from industry powerhouses and earn CE credit. This year's Summit will be held from October 27-30 in the historic city of Boston and features world renowned thought leaders including Peter Lynch, Kathleen Kennedy Townsend and Peggy Noonan.
