
New Board Members for the Youth Sports & Recreation Commission Three new members were appointed to the 17 member Board of Commissioners. (PRWEB) June 15, 2005 Rev. Robert O. Dulin, Jr. Chairman, and Randy McNeil, President have announced the appointment of three new members to the Youth Sports & Recreation CommissionÂs Board of Commissioners. Each of the members will serve a term of three years, as directed by the by-laws of the Board. The new members include: Daedra McGhee, who is the Director of Government and Business Affairs for the southeastern office of Governor Jennifer Granholm. Her experience includes program development and implementation of several crime prevention and human relations initiatives in the city of Detroit. Ms. McGhee has been honored for her work in police/community relations, and in the reduction of youth violence in schools. Ms. McGhee is currently pursuing a dual MasterÂs-PhD in Interdisciplinary Studies at Wayne State University. Barbara J. Patton is the Director of Community Relations for Aramark Inc. Ms. Patton has served in a variety of fund development positions with Boysville of Michigan, New Detroit Inc., and with the Greater Detroit Alliance for Business. Her background includes training, program development/implementation, and proposal writing. Ms. Patton earned both her B.A. and M.A. from the University of Michigan, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D., in Educational Psychology. Active in the community, Ms. Patton is affiliated with several boards, social organizations and volunteer agencies. Vincent Tilford is a Senior Vice President with Charter One Bank. He has background experience in planning, public relations, community financial management, and fundraising. Mr. Tilford has a B.S. in Management Information Systems from the University of Maryland, and earned an MBA in Finance from the University of Michigan. With the addition of Ms. McGhee, Ms. Patton and Mr. Tilford, the Board of Commissioners of the Youth Sports & Recreation Commission has seventeen (17) members from the corporate, civic and non-profit arena, who are dedicated to positive youth development activities in the cities of Detroit, Hamtramck and Highland Park. Launched in 1995 as an initiative of the Skillman Foundation, the Youth Sports and Recreation Commission develops and coordinates quality activities for children and youth in collaboration with other agencies. The Commission is committed to enhancing and increasing the number of youth engaged in structured and safe activities and programs in the tri-cities area.
