Hope for the Homeless New childrens books highlights empathy and compassion. Dallas, TX (PRWEB) June 25, 2005 -- Families are the fastest growing segment of the homeless population in the United Sates, according to the latest information available from the National Coalition for the Homeless (NCH). This translates into young children being introduced to the concept of homelessness within classroom situations and can lead to difficult questions for parents and teachers. Such statistics combined with classroom experiences inspired fourth grade teacher and author Adam Eisenson to pen Hope" a fictional childrens book on homelessness available at bookstores across the country August 1. Eisensons second book for children, his first being The Peanut Butter and Jelly Game", chronicles the impact of homelessness on a young student named Chantell and the life altering affect of meeting Hope, a girl who lives in a local homeless shelter.
Its important to recognize this growing sector of the population and to provide parents and teachers with tools to encourage compassion and understanding for the homeless," says Tamra Dickey, spokesperson for Lone Star Publications.
The book provides a practical way to initiate conversation and guide young children towards compassion when they face homelessness in their own community or classroom," continues Ms. Dickey. Hope also provides practical solutions to combating the problem on a local level."
In keeping with the effort to raise awareness and compassion, Lone Star Publications will be donating 10% of proceeds from book sales to the NCH throughout the print run of the book. The mission of the NCH is to end homelessness through a variety of grassroots and advocacy efforts.
