The First iPhone Application to Control Screens in Times Square, Thousands of US Locations and Facebook Jumbli, The Times Square Word Game, Now Available on iPhone Cambridge, MA (Vocus) June 10, 2009 -- LocaModa Inc. today announced that Jumbli, The Times Square Word Game™, is now available on the iPhone.
Jumbli is the world’s first game played from mobile phones and the web (http://www.jumbli.tv) that also connects with audiences via thousands of placed-based screens, such as Clear Channel’s Spectacolor Jumbotron in New York’s Times Square and networks including Danoo, BarCast, Ecast and Zoom Media & Marketing.
Jumbli is now available as a free iPhone application (http://bit.ly/xVSPb). The game runs 24/7 and can be played by a single player or thousands simultaneously, enabling players to join and leave the game at any time. The game is displayed several times per hour on Clear Channel’s Spectacolor screen in New York’s Times Square, located at 48th Street and Broadway. When Jumbli is live in Times Square, all other connected screens (including those on iPhones and in Facebook) indicate that the game is live in Times Square, and all plays made during that period are displayed in real-time on the Spectacolor Jumbotron, giving players one of the world’s most prominent screens for their plays.
Steve King, LocaModa’s VP of Sales, commented on LocaModa’s cross-channel branding and user engagement: “LocaModa is focused on extending the engagement of brands to users who would otherwise be beyond their reach. Our platform is unique in its ability to reach audiences across social networks and into social locations via web, mobile and place-based networks. The data speaks for itself – we’re keeping audiences challenged and engaged, and that’s keeping brands very happy.”
Jumbli’s high audience recall has resulted in an average mobile engagement time of 4.2 minutes per player, and an average web engagement of 76 minutes per player. The game now attracts a play approximately every 4 seconds, with many players accumulating more than 100,000 points (the equivalent of several weeks of play).
Jumbli was one of the first Verified Facebook Applications (http://apps.facebook.com/jumbli_game/), a screening program that highlights applications that prove their “commitment to providing a trustworthy user experience that is secure, respectful and transparent.”
