Los Angeles, California (PRWEB) June 15, 2009

Self produced and independently released, "The Lunar Age" EP launches Alphanaut to the world mixing modern electronica and sparse guitars, creating a truly unique sound.

The five-song "The Lunar Age" EP is officially released for purchase at iTunes, Amazon.com, Napster.com and other digital retailers. The EP features tuneful songs, with insightful lyrics and unique hooks, bringing together elements of electronica, funk, ambience music and even Spanish Flamenco. Mark Alan (ASCAP) chose the name "The Lunar Age" for its reference to the humanities first journey into space. To him it was the perfect name to mark the launching of Alphanaut. Information on Mark and Alphanaut can be found on his Myspace Profile and ReverbNation, his digital distributor.

"Spontaneity", Alphanaut's debut single, has also just been digitally released May 2009.
It is a song that triggered Mark's return to song writing after a ten-year absence from his craft. It's a lyric based on the struggle to reconnect with the artist inside him while dealing with the self-doubts that all creative souls deal with. His deeply rich vocals glide silkily over the electronic effects and sparse beat, joined in the chorus by his soaring harmonies. The single also features two reworkings of the title cut and a bonus, non-EP song "That's Me". The first revisit of "Spontaneity" is Alphanaut's own "Return To Earth Remix" where the song is stripped down and given a more minimal treatment. The second is an acoustic version amplifying the flamenco guitar line at the end of the song. Mark employed Chavo Villanueva on guitars, Jorge Villanueva on percussion and Teca Garcia, formerly of Tijuana No!, on charango and Peruvian flutes.

Mark Alan is currently wrapping up song editing for Alphanaut's first full-length album, which he'll be taking into the studio summer of 2009. He'll again be working with Chavo and Jorge as well a number of other Los Angeles based musicians to bring a live feel to compliment his sequenced elements. The album should be completed by December of 2009 ready to distribute to the usual online sources.
