FRD Motorsports Announces 2009 China Formula Campus Series FRD Motorsports today announced its updated 2009 China Formula Campus Championship series schedule, for its competitively-priced 8-race championship that begins August 1st. Shanghai, China (PRWEB) June 16, 2009 -- FRD Motorsports today announced its updated 2009 China Formula Campus championship series schedule, an 8-race championship that begins August 1st. All races in the China Formula Campus Championship will be contested in newly-upgraded Formula Campus race cars. The series cars were modified in 2008 with a new aerodynamic package and brand new Ford 1.8L engines that produce 130hp, in addition to a new 5-speed sequential gearbox. The Formula Campus cars can reach 220kph [130mph and 2.1 G's of cornering force on their race slick tires.
The primary draw for the series is its competitive pricing: $18,600USD for the entire 8-race season in comparison to other series such as F2000 (Formula 2000) or F1600 (Formula 1600), which are at least several times the price of the full Formula Campus Championship. In addition, the series is run at major race circuits in China, such as the Shanghai International F1 (Formula One) Circuit and Zhuhai International Circuit.
A further feature of the "arrive and drive" series is its use of the MoTec data acquisition system installed in each race car, which provides data such as lap times, RPMs, gear position, lateral Gs, wheel speed, and braking. Professional data instruction is provided by instructors and is included at no additional cost in the series "arrive and drive" package. Driving data can be overlaid on a track map for analysis and can also be downloaded and reviewed at home using MoTec's no-cost i2 Race Studio software.
The 2009 China Formula Campus Championship opens at Shanghai TMS Circuit in early August and concludes at Zhuhai International Circuit in October, with at least one race to be held during a "C1" celebrity event weekend, featuring movie stars from Asia such as Jet Li. The last C1 event in 2008, held at Shanghai International Circuit, featured a fan attendance of over 30,000.
