Cotati, CA (PRWEB) June 17, 2009 -- Northern California-based MiB Collection by Making it Big, Inc. (http://www.makingitbig.com),a multi-channel retailer of quality plus size women's clothing sizes 2X / 22W to 8X / 48W, has partnered with IHAD (I Had A Dream) - East Oakland, a nonprofit organization started by MiB plus size model Tesia Johnson, to make the dream of higher education come true for low-income children.

Supporting the I Have A Dream -East Oakland (IHAD) foundation (http://www.makingitbig.com/IHAD) was a natural partnership for MiB. Both companies are committed to providing services to underserved populations. MiB (http://www.makingitbig.com) is proud to support our model Tesia Johnson's worthwhile organization just as we are committed to providing plus size women with the access to a shopping experience that all other women receive; the access to quality clothing in which their size range is available in a wide selection of fashions, styles and colors that are specialized for plus size shapes in fit and cut, as well as providing the best service out there, says CEO Tracy Amiral.

The "Join Our 'I Have A Dream Team' campaign started in June and will run through July. MiB will donate $10 from every sale of their popular "Classic Tee" as well as matching any direct customer donation to IHAD - East Oakland up to the amount of $2,500.

"I have worked with MiB as a model for over 10 years and thankful to them for the opportunity to model such beautiful, high quality clothing for the plus size woman. I appreciate our partnership and the opportunity to get the word out about the invaluable benefits and results we see in our IHAD (www.ihad-eastoakland.org) nonprofit program, " says IHAD's Tesia Johnson.

A 25 year-old, privately owned company, MiB Collection by Making it Big offers a quality line of primarily natural fiber clothing to women sizes 2X / 22W up to 8X / 48W. A high percentage of the MiB line is still made in the USA, an anomaly in the clothing industry. In addition to the quality and fashionable look of their line, MiB is known for their specialized sizing system as once a plus size woman orders from MiB, she knows her size and doesn't have to experience the frustration or inconvenience experienced due to the inconsistency of plus sizes across other plus size apparel brands.

The "I Have a Dream projects are based on a successful model begun in 1981 when a wealthy, NY businessman, Eugene Lange "adopted the entire 6th grade class during a keynote speech at his Harlem alma mater, PS 121. Quite impulsively, he promised these children (who were considered low income and "at risk") financial assistance for college if they graduated from high school. He soon realized that in addition to financial help, they would need academic assistance and mentoring to fulfill their dreams. He enlisted the help of his friends to provide comprehensive services and mentoring to his group for the next 6 years in order to support them in fulfilling their educational dreams. By 1987, Mr. Lang had raised his Dreamer's high school graduation rate from 25% to 90% - with 60% going on to higher education!

Inspired by this success, Mr. Lang created the "I Have A Dream Foundation", encouraging the proliferation of his model nationwide. The "I Have a Dream" Foundation now has 66 projects operation in 16 different US States, and even one in Auckland, New Zealand. In its over 25 years of operation, IHAD has helped over 14,000 "Dreamers" reach their academic goals and has raised high school graduation rates of their Dreamers across the country.
