CommonPlaces Announces the Launch of Twolia.com

Twolia.com, a feature-full site for women, launched last week. Twolia was conceived and founded by Donna Meté, and developed by CommonPlaces e-Solutions, a full-service Web developer and Internet strategy firm.

Hampstead, NH (PRWEB) June 19, 2009 -- CommonPlaces e-Solutions is proud to announce the launch of Twolia.com, a feature-rich, online destination for young women and a showcase for their talents. Twolia was conceived and founded by Donna Meté, and developed by CommonPlaces e-Solutions, a full-service Web developer and Internet strategy firm.

From the Twolia site: "This global destination offers an impressive array of entertainment options, from one of the first women's online talent contests, to music, merchandise and film sales produced and sold by women everywhere. Twolia enables women to showcase their talents and merchandise by providing an online sales and marketing platform along with fully supported transaction processing to enable them to sell and distribute their products anywhere in the world."

Twolia.com features all of the following functionality:

--    Twolia Music members are able upload, listen to, share, and sell their own music tracks, albums, and playlists.

--    Shop Twolia provides sellers with their own instant e-store on a highly targeted site where women can browse, search, and discover unique products.

--    In Twolia Talent Contest, members can submit videos of their talents to be judged and rated by the Twolia community. Cash prizes are offered each month.

--    Twolia Awards gives members the opportunity to nominate talented women in the first online awards to celebrate women's achievements in TV and film.

--    The Twolia Film Festival is a user-generated collection of the best female filmmakers, their projects, and cast and crew. Filmmakers have the opportunity to promote and sell streaming versions of their films.

--    Twolia's Blogs offer glamour, gossip, practical advice, and a wide range of other topics.

--    Twolia-TV is a growing collection of streaming member-submitted TV shows.

Twolia founder Meté had this to say about the completed Twolia.com: "I am thrilled to launch Twolia. It is a unique destination that inspires and celebrates the talents and achievements of women from around the world. We expect great things from our community, and are excited to watch their successes unfold."

Twolia was built in the Drupal social publishing platform. This was the best fit for Twolia's needs because it would allow for users and site administrators to easily add and modify content on their site after launch. Regardless of platform, however, a site with such a wide range of functionality presented a number of engineering challenges.

CommonPlaces VP of Engineering Erich Beyrent had this to say about one of these challenges: "The most challenging part of building Twolia was the varying levels of e-commerce that had to be tightly coupled with Drupal throughout the entire site. CommonPlaces was able to extend Ubercart to support multiple sellers and stores with individual payment options, as well as the ability to support individual artists selling music, albums, and films."

CommonPlaces collaborated with Twolia through much of the planning and developing of this project. In fact, CommonPlaces CEO Ben Bassi holds a position on the Twolia Board of Advisors, and will continue to play a role in the future growth and success of the Twolia site.
