Author Celebrates Anniversary of Novel's Publication by Giving Copies Away Malcolm R. Campbell, author of "The Sun Singer," is observing the first year of his adventure novel's publication by donating free copies to libraries. (PRWEB) June 27, 2005 -- Author Malcolm R. Campbell helped pay his college tuition 40 years ago by working at the Florida State University and Syracuse University libraries. Now he wants to give something back.
To celebrate the first anniversary of the publication "The Sun Singer," he is donating copies of the novel to interested high school and public libraries.
"I'm working with a modest budget," he said, "so the number of libraries receiving copies will also be modest--for now."
Copies of the mythic adventure novel for adults and young adults have been donated this June to the Glacier National Park Montana library, the Havre-Hill County Library (Havre, MT), the Decatur Public Library (Decatur, IL), and the Braselton Public Library (Braselton, GA).
Campbell saw the Braselton library while at a Rotary Club picnic in the nearby city park and "thought it looked like a nice home for the book."
The novel takes place in a high country setting inspired by Glacier National Park and the main character lives in a town inspired by Decatur, Illinois. The reference librarian at the library in Havre had previously furnished Campbell with research information for another writing project.
"The Sun Singer" recounts the adventures of young Robert Adams on his journey to a faraway land to complete an ailing grandfather's unfinished mission.
Libraries previously receiving copies of the book include the Jefferson Public Library (Jefferson, GA), the Leon County Public Library (Tallahassee, FL), the Allerton Park Library (Monticello, IL), and the Leon High School Library (Tallahassee, FL).
