RI Restaurants Celebrate Cultural Diversity Through Food The Rhode Island's World of Flavors Competition will kick off Providence Restaurant Weeks on July 12th. Over thirty restaurants from around the state will compete for a $15,000 prize package. Providence, R.I. (PRWEB) June 22, 2009 -- QuickWhatsUp.com is proud to launch the first multicultural culinary competition in Providence, Rhode Island. The World of Flavors Competition will celebrate the state's cultural diversity by showcasing a broad cross-section of Rhode Island restaurants as they compete for the top prize in their world region: Americana, South of the Border, European & Mediterranean, and Asian & Indian. Over thirty restaurants from the state will sample their food for voters who will pick the winner in each category. The event, hosted by Shawn Tempesta of Fox Providence's Rhode Show and featuring music by local legend Spogga, will kick off Providence Restaurant Weeks.

"This state has always been known for its great cuisine," says event producer Seth Resler, "but people tend to think of just Italian and seafood when they think of Rhode Island. We want to show people the incredibly broad range of flavors that the restaurants here have to offer."
The restaurants will be competing for a prize package worth over $15,000, including appearances on the Rhode Show, commercials on Fox Providence and WPRI Channel 12, commercials on 95.5 WBRU, a professional photography package by IHI Design, a creative consulting session with print and broadcast advertising producer Tony Aguilar, an entertainment package from WRIK Entertainment, a graphic redesign package by Artinium Inc., a professional printing package by Sir Speedy Providence, a floral package from Plantasia Interiors and more. One winner will be selected from each category by popular vote.
The event will also feature local beverages, including wines from the vineyards of the Coastal Wine Trail, Narragansett Beer, Newport Storm beer and Granny Squibb Iced Tea.
The competition will be held following the Iron Man 70.3 triathlon in downtown Providence, and the day after the culmination of Sound Session, capping off a fantastic weekend full of cultural experiences.
