Pro Mujer Celebrates 19 Years of Service to Poor Women in Latin America at October 29 Benefit

Sharon Allen, Chairman of Deloitte, Anne Mulcahy, Chairman of Xerox Corporation and Ernest Stern, Partner at The Rohatyn Group to be Honored

New York (PRWEB) June 23, 2009 -- Pro Mujer, a leading provider of financial services, healthcare and training for impoverished women in Latin America, announced its benefit celebration to be held on Thursday, October 29, 2009, at 6:30 P.M. at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City. The benefit celebrates Pro Mujer's nineteen years of service to more than one million women and their families.

At the benefit Pro Mujer will honor Sharon Allen, Chairman of Deloitte LLP, and Anne M. Mulcahy, Chairman of Xerox for their leadership in promoting the role of women in business and society, and for advancing corporate social responsibility.

Serving as Honorary Chairs of the event are Robert and Luciana Duvall, Billie Jean King, Benjamin Bratt, Talisa Soto and Paul Volcker. The benefit's Chair is Kathleen A. Corbet, founder and principal of Cross Ridge Capital, LLC.

Pro Mujer will also honor Ernest Stern, Partner at the The Rohatyn Group, for his efforts to improve the welfare of the millions living in poverty through improved economic global policies.

Proceeds from the event will help women in Latin America to obtain working capital loans to grow their business and to access healthcare for themselves and their families. Millions of Latin American women live on a few dollars a day and the global recession threatens their already precarious livelihoods.

"When women can barely afford food, housing and other basic needs they have no choice but to disregard their health," said Rosario Pérez, Pro Mujer's Chief Executive Officer. "Pro Mujer remains committed to providing top-notch primary healthcare and preventive health education, so women can succeed as entrepreneurs and care for their families."

A Pro Mujer client from Nicaragua will speak at the benefit, sharing her story of how credit and healthcare has changed her life.

Tickets for the event are $500, $1,000, $2,500 and $5,000. Tables are available for $10,000, $25,000 and $50,000. Those interested in attending Pro Mujer's Benefit Celebration should call 212-972-2268 or e-mail tmevents@inch.com.
