MTU Onsite Energy Achieves ISO 9001 Certification

MTU Onsite Energy is the latest Tognum Group company to be certified to this international standard for quality management

Mankato, Minnesota (Vocus) June 23, 2009 -- MTU Onsite Energy Corporation (http://www.mtu-online.com/), a leading producer of diesel - and gas-powered generator sets, has passed a comprehensive assessment of its quality management system and is now a certified ISO 9001:2008 organization meeting international standards of quality. This achievement complements the company's ISO 14001 environmental management certification, which was awarded in 2008.

According to MTU Onsite Energy quality manager, Rauno Maaninen, achieving the ISO standard is both a Tognum (http://www.tognum.com/) corporate requirement and a business requirement. "First, it is a requirement for any Tognum company to maintain ISO 9001:2000 certification at a minimum," says Maaninen. "Second, being ISO (http://www.iso.org/iso/home.htm) certified is increasingly required by our customers and it will allow us to bid projects for many new domestic and international applications."

The ISO 9001:2008 certification process took about eight months and encompassed all of the company's operating processes and procedures. "Internally, it establishes objectives, standardizes work processes to reduce and eliminate waste, and drives us to continually improve our quality management system," says Maaninen.

The certification, which is valid through May 2012, covers both of MTU Onsite Energy's manufacturing facilities and its warehouse, all of which are located in Mankato, Minnesota. To maintain the certification, the company's quality management system must be periodically audited, both internally and externally, to ensure that it continues to meet the ISO 9001:2008 standard requirements. Formal recertification audits occur every three years.
