The benefit was not just the lower cost to the insurance company but in reviewing the records it was noted that the patient enjoyed fishing and the $70,000.00 prosthesis can not be exposed to water. It would not provide the patient with the activity he loved, fishing. This savings could be hundreds of thousands of dollars over a lifetime. This is money that can then be used for the care of others.
