Health Care Company Donates $60,000 to Keep Community Pool Open

Keystone Mercy Health Plan to Host Christy Pool's Summer Opening Ceremony

Philadelphia, Pa. (Vocus) June 24, 2009 -- Keystone Mercy Health Plan, the largest Medical Assistance managed care organization in Pennsylvania, has donated $60,000 to Christy Recreation Center, as part of the "Splash and Summer Fund," a corporate and community sponsorship campaign, developed by the City to keep public swimming pools open this summer. Among the largest corporate contributors to the fund, Keystone Mercy's donation will allow the "rec center," located in Southwest Philadelphia, to continue its summer pool operations for the 2009 season. The company will host the pool's season opening with a ceremony at 1pm, Thursday, June, 25, 2009, at the recreation center, located on 728 S. 55th street.

The ceremony will kick off a summer partnership between Keystone Mercy and Christy Recreation Center that will feature a series of health screenings and programs, both during the opening ceremony and throughout the summer schedule of activities for children and their families in the neighboring community.

More than 100 community leaders, Keystone Mercy personnel, and Southwest Philadelphia residents are expected to attend the ceremony, as well as special guest master of ceremonies, Doug Henderson from 105.3 WDAS FM, a local radio personality. There will also be refreshments, activities and a performance by the West Philadelphia Conestoga Angels Drill Team.
