Adopted Siblings Provide Inspiration For One Theatre Company's "People of the Hill"

One Theatre Company presents the World Premiere musical of The People of the Hill, a story of a boy and a princess who discover a different country and culture exist beyond their mountain kingdom.

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) July 10, 2005 -- One Theatre Company presents the World Premiere musical of The People of the Hill, which begins performances on July 23, 2005 at the Athenaeum Theatre, 2936 Southport in Chicago.

The People of the Hill is the story of a boy and a princess living in a faraway kingdom, which is constantly at war with the creatures living atop the nearby mountain. When the boy and princess discover that the creatures they were taught to hate are actually not very different from themselves, their world is sent into a whirlwind of adventure.

Written for children ages 5 and up by One Theatre Company members Josh Solomon and Samantha Grifalsi, the musical presents serious life challenging moments with comedy and a musical score that both children and adults can appreciate.

The musical is inspired by my three-year old brother and sister and their insatiable curiosity of the world and people around them," notes playwright and One Theatre Artistic Director, Joshua Solomon.

Solomon's fondness and appreciation of his adopted siblings has inspired One Theatre Company's dedication of the July 23rd performance to MAPS, Maine Adoption Placement Service (www.mapsadopt.org), a nonprofit agency providing adoption services to families everywhere, with programs in Cambodia, China, Guatemala, India, Kazakstan, Nepal, Romania, Russia, Vietnam, and the United States. One Theatre Company will donate fifty percent of the July 23rd ticket sales to benefit MAPS.

Preview of The People of the Hill will be on Saturday, July 23, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. Public performances will be held Saturday, July 30, 2005 and Saturday, August 6, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. Group sales performances will be held on the following Tuesdays at 10 a.m.: July 19, July 26 and August 2, 2005.

Adult and senior tickets are $15.00 and children tickets are $10.00. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster (www.ticketmaster.com) or the Athenaeum Theatre Box Office at

(312) 902-1500.
