With Waning Consumer Donations, Nonprofits And Schools Must Adjust - New Program From "I'm Tired Of…" Answers The Call Consumers are currently not willing or able to go out of pocket for the kinds of large charitable donations they used to make, according to Dan Hoffman, co-founder of I'm Tired of... (ITo), a company helping many nonprofit organizations continue to raise money for their causes in these miserable economic times. Now, ITo is broadening its efforts with the introduction of the SNAP Fundraising Program. Santa Monica, CA (PRWEB) June 25, 2009 -- Consumers are currently not willing or able to go out of pocket for the kinds of large charitable donations they used to make, according to Dan Hoffman, co-founder of I'm Tired of... (www.imtiredonline.com) (ITo), a company helping many nonprofit organizations continue to raise money for their causes in these miserable economic times.
"Nonprofits, schools and other charities must adjust their methods and find new ways to maintain the donation levels they have enjoyed in the past," Hoffman emphasizes. "The big black tie fundraisers and extravagant silent auctions, for example, no longer work in many cases. These organizations should take a lesson from for profit corporations, where the approach is often volume vs. profit margin. In other words, sell a lot of inexpensive products to more people and rely less on the big purchase/donation from fewer people. Consumers still want to help charities, but they can no longer afford it. So, while they may not make the kinds of donations they did before, they will still spring for less costly things to continue to help fight the world's issues."
This has been the strategy behind the now very popular "I'm Tired of…" bracelets, which, in less than eight months, have raised big money for charities, including such well known nonprofits as Best Friends Animal Society, Diabetes Research Institute Foundation, The Hunger Project and Breastcancer.org, from sales of an inexpensive, fashionable, eco friendly $10 bracelet (and it's not silicone). Half the sale of each bracelet ($5) is donated to the company's specific charity beneficiary, supporting an important world cause. There are currently 14 causes on the company's website, from animal cruelty, world hunger, discrimination and global warming to cancer, diabetes (http://www.imtiredonline.com/index.php/shop/details/6/Diabetes) and autism (http://www.imtiredonline.com/index.php/shop/details/11/Autism) and 14 charities being supported.
Now, ITo is broadening its efforts with the introduction of the SNAP Fundraising Program, which enables any charity, nonprofit or school to buy the bracelets to raise money for their own organizations.
"We believe the success of the I'm Tired of… campaign stems from two major elements," Hoffman said. "First, the bracelets are not just another silicone bracelet. They are cool looking, eco friendly (made from recycled tires and metals) and allow people to make a statement that they are tired of an issue (i.e., I'm Tired of Animal Cruelty (http://www.imtiredonline.com/index.php/shop/details/5/Animal_Cruelty) or I'm Tired of Discrimination (http://www.imtiredonline.com/index.php/shop/details/14/Discrimination)). Second, they get to make a donation towards a cause they are passionate about without breaking the bank. Even in these times, almost everyone can still afford a $10 bracelet, especially when they know that half of the purchase ($5) goes to charity.
"We have been getting so many requests from other nonprofits and schools, who want to buy the bracelets for their own fundraising efforts, that we decided to create this program. After all, our goal is to ultimately raise millions of dollars towards research, outreach and action on serious world issues. While our current charity beneficiaries on the website are leaders in the nonprofit world, there are so many others (both large and small) with the same goals. SNAP allows anyone to get involved with very little investment.
"From the charity's perspective, SNAP is a snap," he joked. "The charities pick from one of the 14 causes we offer. They purchase bracelets for $5 each, sell them at functions, on websites or whatever means they have for $10 and keep $5 for their organizations. It's just that simple and the minimum order is only 50 bracelets. If our causes don't match up with theirs, custom bracelets are also available," he explained.
The "I'm Tired of…" campaign was launched less than a year ago by brother and sister team, Dan Hoffman and Carrie Pollare, to fight against the world's issues that we are all tired of, like animal cruelty, discrimination, world hunger, global warming, cancer, diabetes and so many more. The fashionable bracelets are made from recycled tires and metals, creating a fun play on the word, tired, and cost just $10, so anyone can afford them. Then half the sale ($5) from each one is donated to charities the company is aligned with that support each cause. The company recently also introduced an "I'm Tired of Animal Cruelty" t-shirt.
