Particle Launches 2005 CaliLicious Tour with Special Guest Gabby La La

Critically acclaimed Los Angeles instrumental quartet launches its biggest headlining tour.

(PRWEB) July 7, 2005 -- Critically acclaimed instrumental quartet Particle is poised to kick off the 2005 CaliLicious Tour with special guest Gabby La La. The 30 plus city run stretches coast to coast, beginning in the bands native state of California on August 25.

Particle will pay tribute to their home state each night by debuting covers by popular California artists and icons. The 2005 CaliLicious Tour will bring two of Californias most unique artists together and showcase Particles largest production to date.

Tour highlights will include appearances at Jazz Aspen with Widespread Panic, Harvestfest in Minnesota, an appearance at Irving Plaza during CMJ and a special Hydra show at Hornings Hideout in Oregon. Other key stops include the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, the Fox Theatre in Boulder, Park West in Chicago and the Theatre of Living Arts in Philadelphia. The tour culminates with the bands five-year anniversary celebration at the House of Blues in West Hollywood on Saturday, October 8.

Press accolades for Particle range from sources as varied as national dance/electronic/urban bible URB Magazine (...pure visual and aural stimulation...") to industry standard The Hollywood Reporter (...hard to resist hopping on board for the ride."). The New York Times praised the bands set at Bonnaroo this year calling it methodical and unstoppable." The Associated Press named Particles debut album Launchpad in its Top Ten Records of 2004. The members of Particle have also received recent accolades from Keyboard Magazine, Modern Drummer, and Guitar Player Magazines.

Particle has been very busy in 2005 thus far, touring as Hydra (featuring Mickey Hart and Particle) as well as supporting and collaborating with Trey Anastasio this past spring. Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh also joined them on stage this summer in Austin for some extended jamming. Summer tour highlights included an appearance at Bonnaroo where the band welcomed a twelve-piece Nashville gospel choir for a portion of its performance. Upcoming summer appearances include 10K Lakes Festival and San Diego Street Scene before embarking on the fall tour.

Particles unique funktronic" sounds blend elements of electronic, funk and high-powered rock 'n roll. The band has performed more than 600 shows in 8 countries since its inception in October of 2000. The instrumental quartet is comprised of Eric Gould on bass, Charlie Hitchcock on guitar, Steve Molitz on keyboards, and Darren Pujalet on drums.

Particle is excited to welcome special guest Gabby La La to the 2005 CaliLicious Tour. Gabby La La is a multi instrumentalist from Northern California whose onstage arsenal includes sitar, theremin and toy piano. This marks Gabbys first national tour after appearances at The 2005 Jammys and Bonnaroo. Her debut album was produced by Les Claypool and released on his label, Prawnsong Records.
