On July 4, 1984, Petty edged Cale Yarborough at Daytona International Speedway for win No. 200. It's widely regarded as one of the most important days in NASCAR history: President Ronald Reagan gave the "start engine" command from Air Force One and was on hand to greet Petty after his victory. Just over a week ago, driver Kasey Kahne returned team owner Petty to victory lane in Sonoma, Calif.
