Australia (PRWEB) June 30, 2009 -- Tourism Western Australia (http://www.westernaustralia.com/Bring_the_family/Pages/Expat.aspx) has launched a campaign to reunite the family and friends of the many expat Brits living in Western Australia.

The campaign, which encourages expats to invite their UK friends and family to visit, highlights the number of great holiday deals (http://www.westernaustralia.com/uk/Holiday_Bookings/Holiday_Specials/Pages/Holiday_Deals.aspx) available right now which mean that there has never been a better time to visit friends living in Western Australia.

The campaign, run in partnership with expat magazine, Whingeing Pom, urges expats to "bring the UK to WA" and rediscover their adopted home with their UK friends.

The campaign targets expats in Perth (http://www.westernaustralia.com/Bring_the_family/Pages/Expat.aspx), the capital of Western Australia, and their friends and family in the UK and offers the chance to win an amazing holiday (http://www.westernaustralia.com/Bring_the_Family/Pages/Win_a_holiday.aspx) for four UK friends or family to visit Western Australia.

Brits with family and friends in Western Australia, or their WA counterparts, have to describe in 25 words or less, which 'mates or rellies' they would like to visit and what experience they would most like to share with them in Western Australia.

Competition judges are looking for entries that stand out, make them laugh or represent the unique and varied state of Western Australia at its very best.

The winner will pick up the Western Australian holiday (http://www.therealaustralia.co.uk/Australia_Holiday_Ideas.htm) of a lifetime and a chance to experience some of the highlights of the State, including Perth and its surrounds, wildlife watching in Rockingham, the Ningaloo Reef and outback adventures in the Kimberley.

The prize is valued at more than $20,000 and includes four return economy class airfares, accommodation packages in Perth and around WA, tours, car hire and much more.

As well as the competition, the campaign also includes a series of features on unique travel experiences in Western Australia, real travel stories from expats, travel ideas and itineraries. The campaign, running from June to October, includes press and digital activity.

Almost half (45%) of UK visitors to WA in 2008 said seeing friends and relatives was one of their reasons for travel. This is compared to 37% travelling for pure holiday reasons.

Tourism Western Australia marketing manager Christie Lord said Western Australia had a huge expat community with about one in ten of the population originally born in the UK.

"We know there's an enormous sense of local pride in WA too - 96 per cent surveyed said there were many local holiday destinations they would be proud to recommend," she said.

"We want to harness this local pride amongst the expat community and encourage them to show off their new home to their friends and family (http://www.westernaustralia.com/Bring_the_family/Pages/Expat.aspx). They might even discover something new themselves in the process."

"We also realise this is a market which is more likely to travel in the current economic climate and this campaign gives them the reason to book that trip they have been talking about for ages, now."

The competition will start in August, but people can register now to receive an alert when the competition is live, by visiting www.westernaustralia.com/expat.
