(PRWEB) July 14, 2005 -- Bonny B Umeadi PhD has been awarded Outstanding Achievement in Poetry 2005 at the USA Library of Poets Spring Convention. The announcement was made 25 February 2005 at an awards ceremony held at the Walt Disney World Resort, Orlando, Florida USA in front of over 2000 attending poets and guests from over 49 countries. The award was presented to him June 6th 2005in London.

His poems, compared with legends such as Bernard Shaw, Niche and Ted Hughes. In 1996 Ben Okri delivered FREEDOM" Bonny Umeadis legendry verse of the Prometheus in an invented language to the public at Trafalgar Squire, after which Ben Okri commented that Umeadis writings engagingly transcend the intellectual boundaries of political interpretation, reflecting everyday life.

In 2002 and 2003 Dr Umeadi was nominated for the Poet of the Year Award USA Library of Poets -- a prize recognising consistent excellence over a long career" -- and the panels extract reads, in part, as follows: The certainty of the overt, the beatific powers of layered information, the mosaic in words gracefully crafted -- He has mastered these matters in an encompassing, meticulous verses. His ability not only to choose a topic but to pace it and to reveal its meaning through the unfolding of the narrative is outstanding in contemporary poetry.

The incisive psychology, the vividly descriptive diction, the large repertoire of vocabulary, the weightiness of his settings and plots: all these contribute to the delightful sensation that one is reading, simultaneously, the best poetry and best prose. At times corny and skilfully disloyal in his writing approach by playing with the mind and imagination of the reader.

Take My Shero" for example Dr Bonny Umeadi interweaves topics that become something like agreeable themes yet politically charged.

Religion" is another reoccurring dusty light of the conscience of his race and belief, the mysteries of the explicit lawlessness and disregards to human life by religious slaves and slavers irrespective of faith groups.

He has donated some of his prices to FootStepForLife (www.footstepforlife.com), a UK incorporated non-for-profit organisation that supports children orphaned by HIV/AIDS in Africa (for more http://www.tanzanianow.com/community.html
