Jaquess is setting her sights on securing that title once again at the World Championships in Tiantjin, China this summer. Regina Rules Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, Jaquess began competing at the age of 5 and by the time she was 8 had set her first USA National record in slalom. This was the first of 39 USA National records (to date) to be set by her in all three events, slalom, tricks, and jumping. At the age of 16, Jaquess captured the World Trick title, and at the following World Championships, she was crowned World Overall Champion, while setting the World Championship tournament record. She has won 58 medals in international competition, including 38 gold medals. At the end of the 2004 season, the Women’s Sports Foundation named Jaquess a finalist for “Sportswoman of the Year.” During the 2004 season, Jaquess became the first woman to land a Front Flip and perform a Ski-Line-540 (SL5F) in competition.
Jaquess is as accomplished academically as she is athletically. Carrying a 3.5+ average, she is enrolled in the Doctor of Pharmacy program at the University of Louisiana-Monroe.
“Quite a few people have been inspirational to me, including my parents and sister. But my coach, Cory Pickos, continues to keep me on track for the goals that I have set for myself,” says Regina Jaquess. “I am also inspired my by fellow competitors -- they push me to higher goals as well.”
