British Firm Launches Virtual Studio" To Turn Fresh Ideas into Films

A British company has launched a website that will discover high potential ideas, and match them with screenwriters to develop professional screenplays. MovieJigsaw will also assist in findings buyers and Investors to take them to the next level.

(PRWEB) July 16, 2005 -- One British company hopes to breathe new life into the old Hollywood studio system ... in virtual reality. Screenwriter and e-commerce entrepreneur Ian Noakes has launched MovieJigsaw.com -- an online venture that assembles teams of screenwriters, idea people, story editors and investors from around the world. The objective is to develop, market -- and eventually produce -- a variety of original screenplays each year.

"Unlike most film-related websites, MovieJigsaw is not a registration service or a link to contests and consultants," says Noakes. "Weve taken the next step: creating a site thats part movie studio, part writers collective. By gathering diverse talent under one virtual roof, we hope to flex more marketing and distribution muscle.""

MovieJigsaws initial focus is on attracting screenwriters, editors, concept creators and investors. Qualified screenwriters can join for free, and will be eligible to accept both paying and spec assignments. Ideas, log lines, outlines, and treatments submitted by concept creator members will be evaluated at no cost. Ideas chosen for development will be presented to screenwriter members via e-mail, so they can choose which concepts to expand into finished screenplays.

Depending on the creative and financial goals of concept creators, MovieJigsaw will charge fees ranging from a hundred dollars to several thousand. In some cases, however, MovieJigsaw will locate investors to finance development or production -- or will back a project itself. (Those participating in any project will be under contract, and must sign a non-disclosure agreement.)

Other MovieJigsaw benefits include:

An "Idea Piece" section that allows anyone with an interesting premise, character, scene or dialogue to enter the material into a database searchable by MovieJigsaws screenwriters and concept creators. Ideas that are actually used will be awarded prizes. In addition, one Idea Piece submitter will receive a prize every month.

Marketing support for screenwriters who wish to locate an agent, manager or producer for outside projects.

Free e-mail alerts for potential investors regarding upcoming projects.

"We welcome both veterans and newbies, as long as theyre serious about filmmaking, and prepared to commit their time and talent," says Noakes. "Most of all, were looking for people with great ideas -- large or small, rough or polished. We certainly value people with training, skills and experience, but we also value compelling stories and characters, regardless of who invented them."
