American Glob: Takes No Prisoners, Promises Laughs American Glob, a new parody news weekly on the web, claims it's produced in New England but makes fun of everybody just the same. (PRWEB) July 20, 2005 -- American Glob (www.americanglob.com) is a relatively new humor news site billing itself as American and International News from an Undisclosed Location in New England."
The site consists of six stories each week, one headline and five short features. Subjects include politics, arts & entertainment, topical stories and typically at least two stories that lampoon New Englanders or life in New England. Whether or not the site is being written by someone who lives in New England is not known but wherever they might be, they certainly take delight in making fun of New England with past headlines such as Connecticut Thinks Its So Big" and Maine to Bathe."
The site looks vaguely like the front page of a newspaper and is updated every Monday. An entire issue can be read in about 10 minutes and guarantees to brighten your Monday morning with a smile or better yet a guffaw.
Past headlines like Bank of Nigeria Awards American Citizen 14.3 Million Dollars" and Chinese Play Joke, Pee in Coke" highlight the international side of the news, whereas others such as Arkansas Hosts Goober-nuh-torial Conference" and Pregnant Britney to Cut Back on Drinking" aim to throw gas on the fire of American news items and stereotypes.
American Glob appeared like a ghost in the night and has an eerie anonymity which lends to its claim that its produced in an undisclosed location in New England." One gets the image of an old school New England Yankee in rural Vermont who has just discovered wi-fi and desktop publishing. There are currently no ads or links to other sites on American Glob. Scroll to the bottom of the front page and all youll see is a message saying © 2005 and a link to the email address of an unnamed editor.
Visitors should be forewarned that nothing is sacred on American Glob. In the 20 weeks since its launch, American Glob has taken shots at conservatives and liberals alike. Its made fun of every major religion as well as some not so major ones. Politicians from around the United States have made their way into American Glob stories and the content was rarely congratulatory. As long as you can read it knowing that everyone will be made fun of, not just your favorite, politician, actor, religious figure or New England State, youll enjoy this new blip on the World Wide Webs comedy radar screen.
