Remove Blemishes During Your lunchbreak? No pain, more gain? Aesthera's Photopneumatic therapy introduces a breakthrough concept of quick yet painless light treatment to help the modern woman rid their skin of imperfections. Singapore (PRWEB) July 29, 2005 -- If you are concerned with the removal of unwanted hair, sun-damage, unwanted veins or pigmentary uneveness - "brown spots" or "redness" on your skin - and are looking for a quick, painless way to resolve these conditions, the answer may be closer than you think. Approved by the FDA this year, Photopneumatic Therapy (PPx) is a breakthrough aesthetic treatment therapy that offers highly effective no-pain treatments that are 4 - 5 times safer than other treatments. What this means is that we can possibly be on the way to clearer, more radiant skin in less time than it would take us to order a club sandwich at peak hour. So for the working lady who is serious about beauty yet equally serious about time-saving, this new treatment definitely opens the door for many possible lunchtime sessions.
Too good to be true? PPx Therapy is a combination of pneumatic energy (pressure) and broadband light. It is a safer alternative to other laser and light-based treatments but with the same effectiveness, or better than, traditional therapies. This highly efficient delivery of energy greatly reduces the possibility of side-effects such as redness, burning, and scarring. PPx Therapy is also a more hygienic procedure thanks to a personalized single-use disposable tip, which is customized per treatment area. Unlike existing treatment alternatives, patients do not need to undergo time consuming pre-treatment procedures such as applying topical numbing agents or cooling gels. Immediately after the procedure, patients are ready to resume their normal activities.
"PPx therapys patented process combines the unique properties of therapeutic light with pressure to bring you a breakthrough method for the treatment of unwanted hair, uneven pigment and unwanted veins," explains Dr kenneth Lee, medical director of The Sloane Clinic, the first clinic in Singapore to offer PPx treatments.
During treatment, a "pulling up" motion gently lifts a small amount of the treatment area into a specially designed hygienic (read disposable) treatment tip. Targets (such as unwanted hair, unwanted pigments and unsightly veins) are lifted and brought closer to the skins surface. When therapeutic light is applied, the light is converted to a gentle heat energy which is absorbed by the target (unwanted hair, unwanted pigments and unsightly veins). The energy applied is concentrated in the target to be destroyed, protecting the surrounding normal tissue. Skin is then instantly returned to its normal position and the treatment handpiece is moved onto the next treatment area. The process is repeated until the entire treatment area is covered.
"PPx therapy is up to 5 times more efficient in the delivery of energy to unwanted hair, pigment and veins. This highly efficient delivery of energy allows PPx therapy to use a fraction of the energy that other treatments require, making PPx therapy safer than other treatment modalities," says Dr Lee.
For the rest of us who are more concerned about the pain factor, PPx therapy is also spot on when it comes to maximum impact with minimal pain. Compared to traditional light based methods, PPx therapy does not require any anesthesia. A fine spray of soothing mist on the face, and the treatment is immediately administered with minimal discomfort. Before my treatment began, Dr Kenneth Lee applied a soothing mist to my skin for hydration. Since PPx therapy is designed to provide the safest and most hygienic treatment experience available, a brand new tip for each treatment per patient is used. During the treatment, I felt a gentle suction on my skin (akin to an overzealous kiss). In less than a second, I felt a gentle tap on my skin as light energy was applied. In all, I would say that it was more comfortable than my neighborhood facial, and the gentle suction was actually quite soothing.
In a recent clinical study, 100% of patients reported no pain during treatment. Treatment sensation was most commonly described as being similar to that of a warm massage.
Another thing I realize about Photopneumatic therapy is that it is very fast. My treatment ended before I knew it. Just when I was getting comfortable, the nurses were already patting sunblock and moisturizer onto my treated skin. Apart from a nice rosy flush, my skin showed no tell-tale signs of treatment. I would say the entire process took me less than 20 minutes, shorter than it would take me to pluck my own eyebrows.
For the busy working women, PPx therapy provides a lunchtime, no downtime way to a clearer, smoother and blemish free complexion. For those of us who are already converts, there is no turning back.
