Got a Minute? Make a Movie and Support a Mouse

Hot, New Online Film Festival Announces Relationship with NYC-based Non-Profit MOUSE.

New York (PRWEB) August 1, 2005 --The New York Minute Film Festival (www.nymff.com), an innovative new online film festival celebrating the art of rapid-fire storytelling, announced today that it has selected the non-profit MOUSE (www.mouse.org) as its official charity.

The New York Minute Film Festival, aiming to be the first major online film festival to give both established and emerging filmmakers an opportunity to create, submit and earn widespread recognition for new works in a 60-second format, is made possible with the generous support of founding sponsor Convergence (www.convergenceny.com), an award winning visual media company based in New York.

The NYMFF, with its one minute format and online delivery, is all about leveling the playing field for both amateur and professional filmmakers," said Oren Sarch, partner/editor at founding sponsor, Convergence. MOUSE is the perfect charity for the festival to support because they're bringing technology and training to urban public schools so they can compete on a level playing field as well,"

MOUSE, a charity that pioneers innovative school programs in an effort to integrate technology in teaching and learning in urban public schools, will receive a portion of the festivals profits. Founded in 1997 to help New York City Public Schools, MOUSE has grown into an international charity over the past seven years empowering students and schools to succeed in todays wired, knowledge-based society.

"MOUSE is excited about the opportunity to partner with the New York Minute Film Festival," said Carole Wacey, Executive Director of MOUSE. "It's rewarding to see the NY Minute Festival and Convergence recognize the importance of investing in the future of NYC's youth."

Launched last month, The New York Minute Film Festival (www.newyorkminutefilmfestival.com) is currently accepting submissions and has already received entries from 9 different countries. Entrants will compete in five categories: drama, comedy, experimental, animation and music video. In addition to finding a new outlet for their stories and talents, entrants will vie for prizes, cool gear from festival sponsors, and a chance to attend a New York City screening celebrating the art of rapid-fire storytelling. Online viewing and voting begins August 8 and ends November 2, narrowing the field to 10 films in each category. A celebrity panel of judges will then select from among those top films to pick a winner in each category.
