Matt Born Puts His Family First

Matt Born of the Daily Mail has rejected a 1000 prize that could have led to winning 100,000 in a leading poker tournament.

(PRWEB) August 1, 2005 -- Matt Born of the Daily Mail has rejected a 1000 prize that could have led to winning 100,000 in a leading poker tournament.

Despite winning a Media Tournament that qualified him to enter the Palm Beach CelebPoker Classic Tournament, being held at the Palm Beach Casino, Mayfair, this weekend, Matt has chosen to stay at home.

"My wife and family are returning from Italy just as the main tournament is due to begin, and she expects me to be there for them," he explained.

CelebPoker, the tournament organiser and celebrity poker website, has awarded Matt's spot to both the runners-up, who had roughly the same number of chips at the end of the Media Tournament.

They are Anthony Holden, music critic of The Observer and author of the poker classic, "Big Deal", and Phil Shaw, editor of the magazine, PokerEuropa.

"We couldn't separate them, and so we gave them both the chance to win a share of the 120,000 pool," said CelebPoker's managing director, Patrick Keane.

The Palm Beach CelebPoker Classic takes place at 30 Berkeley Street W1 on Saturday July 30 at 4 p.m., with the final table on Sunday July 31 at 3 p.m.
