In this day of internet proliferation, ordinary people across the globe are turning to it in order to make a second income.

Type ‘make money’ into a search engine and you will get literally millions of pages offering you the chance to retire and live in luxury while working just a few hours a week. In theory it sounds like a dream for many but in practice only the people selling these get rich quick schemes actually benefit.

The true story is that only a tiny percentage of people looking to earn a living from the internet will actually do so, the rest are likely to spend a lot of time and in some cases a lot of money to get nothing back in return.

However, it is not all doom and gloom. There are ways of making at least some money in your spare time. Maybe enough to buy that new TV you have wanted for a while or a special gift for a loved one.

So how do I make this spare cash?

My first experience was into the world of online surveys. Market research companies contact me when a survey is available and I fill it out online. Some companies offer cash incentives, other gift certificates or even prize entries.

Secondly, I get paid to give my own opinions once again but this time on a review website. Every time someone read and rated my review on a product I would get paid a small amount.

If earlier, you were one of those hoping to fund the purchase of a new TV or gift; maybe my third idea is for you. I have entered many competitions in the past and have received some nice goods in the past for winning. It only makes sense that the more you enter the more chances you have to win.
