Detroit Diesel Engines Deserve a "Brake" Today

Jake Brakes that is. Why? Because Jacobs Brakes, the world's leader in vehicle retarding power, has teamed with Detroit Diesel Corporation (DDC) to integrate Jacobs Engine Brake technology into their new diesel engines.

(PRWEB) August 7, 2005 -- Jacobs Brakes, the world's leader in vehicle retarding power, has teamed with Detroit Diesel Corporation (DDC) to integrate Jacobs Engine Brake technology into their new diesel engines.

They're designed, engineered and tested to meet DDC specifications and are offered on engines ranging from Series 50 engines through the Series 92 engines. They can be specified on new engines or added later.

A Jacobs Engine Brake is a hydro-mechanical devise that mounts under an engine's valve cover. It turns your power-producing diesel engine into a power-absorbing air compressor. It's used on heavy-duty commercial vehicles and enables safer vehicle speed control in several driving situations, from flatlands to steep downhill descents and reduces the use of the service brakes.

The use of Jake Brakes reduces the wear and tear on the service brakes, which reduces the frequency of brake system service. By keeping the brake temperature lower, wheel bearing and tire casing life is extended for more retreads. They help maintain normal engine temperature and turbocharger speeds on long downgrades, providing improved response when positive power is needed again. This can add up to more trips for the same vehicle, which increases productivity and profits.

With all the benefits they offer, it's not surprising that today, over 70% of new Class 8 vehicles in North America are equipped with Jacobs Engine Brakes. And as further testimony, there are many cases of operators who have put Jacobs Engine brakes to use for over a million miles of vehicle operation and have extended service brake life up to five times. Those are the kind of brakes, everyone deserves.
