Foundation for Sight & Sound Names Irwin Schneidmill as New Board Member

Irwin Schneidmill, President of Independent Living Aids, LLC joins board of FSS

The Foundation for Sight & Sound, (FSS), a local Long Island based organization dedicated to improving the lives of those with visual and/or auditory challenges by granting the tools and services necessary for the success of these individuals has named Irwin Schneidmill as their newest board member. Mr. Schneidmill is the president of Independent Living Aids, LLC, the oldest privately-held, mail-order company in the United States of products for individuals who are blind, deaf, visually impaired or hard of hearing.

Schneidmill brings to the association a renewed commitment to the Foundation's most basic goal, to supply and distribute products and tools for the sensory challenged.

"Irwin's expertise will be an asset to the Foundation for Sight & Sound and the needs of the vision and hearing communities," states Mitchel Shapiro, President of FSS.

Through the day to day business operations of the Foundation for Sight & Sound and Independent Living Aids, LLC, both presidents work towards a common objective of providing practical solutions to the daily obstacles faced by the visually and/or hearing impaired.

FSS was founded by Mitchel Shapiro just a few years ago. The Foundation strives to enrich the quality of life for individuals afflicted with any visual or auditory loss, regardless of degree. This is accomplished through the grants FSS provides to distinct organizations which either offer direct services or participate in research for these conditions. Current projects underway at FSS include, The Library Project, Help America Hear Program and The Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind. FSS continues to provide grant funding to The League for the Hard of Hearing, Foundation Fighting Blindness, Helen Keller National Society and SUNY-State College of Optometry, amongst numerous others.
