Online Dragon Den Star Shaf Rasul has invested in a new online magazine aimed at the geek community.

Website http://www.geeks.co.uk will cover news articles, irreverent and intelligent features, independent artwork and reviews on the latest gadgets, phones, MP3s, computers and games consoles.

The site will also act as a forum for readers to offer their views on the latest gadgets and gamer products coming to market.

Rasul - who features in an online version of the BBC's Dragons Den alongside American Julie Meyer - believes the online magazine has the potential to become the most popular gadget site in the UK.

"It's pretty much geek gold," he said.

"The objective has been to establish a magazine that allows every day gamers and users of gadgets to interact with each other to create fun debate on the gadgets and technology we use every day.

"The site will also have latest product news, surveys, fun-filled features and interviews with geek pin-ups as well as regular competitions to win the latest hi-tech products on the market.

"The site benefits from an outstanding domain name and I believe the management and editorial teams in place have the ability to make it the most successful site of its kind in the UK."

Geeks.co.uk will be managed and edited primarily by a team of females as part of the site's strategy of appealing to both sexes.

"We looked around at the competition and we felt they were all a bit serious, really boring and none geared their content towards women either," Shaf added.

"It was very clear to us that we could deliver an even better consumer resource and product in a much more fun and enjoyable way.

"Our writers are all geeks, the majority of them are women and they are already developing a cult following on Twitter and Facebook as part of our targeted viral and social marketing strategy.

"The team in place believe the site will become synonymous with UK geek culture and I fully believe they will realise that ambition and make a success of my latest capital venture."
