Skywest Airlines Australia Wins Government Monopoly On Certain Australian Routes

Skywest Airlines of Australia has been awarded an exclusive licence by from the Government of Western Australia to offer air services to various coastal towns and cities in Western Australia.

(PRWEB) August 12, 2005 -- The Western Australian Government has conducted a tender exercise for the operation of air services in Western Australia. In a Media Statement issued on the 10th of August 2005 by the Minister for Planning and Infrastructure the Minister advised that Skywest had been selected to exclusively operate air services to the Coastal Network of Western Australia.

The Western Australian Coastal Network Comprises:

Perth to

Albany

Carnarvon

Esperance

Exmouth (Learmonth)

Geraldton

Kalbarri

Shark Bay (Monkey Mia)

The decision expands Skywests current network with increased frequency levels, furthermore it provides for the two additional ports of Shark Bay and Kalbarri.

The exclusive license is for up to five years, which is comprised of an initial three years from December 2005, with the option of a further two year extension.

The Company believes that wining the tender for these routes provides an opportunity to Skywest for growth over the next five years in terms of both passenger numbers and revenues. Servicing the additional ports will provide additional opportunities to service the tourism market in the Mid West and Gascoyne regions of Western Australia.
