Office Depot Computer Donation and Recycling Offered in Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Office Depot to help collect old computers for donation and recycling in Calgary.

(PRWEB) August 11, 2005 -- With the help of Office Depot locations in Calgary the Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) hopes to collect thousands of old laptops and computers from residents and businesses in Calgary, to put back into the lower income communities here and abroad. Some of the recipients include The Red Cross, Calgary Drop in Center, Boyle Street Coop, Bissell Center, any many others, including daycares, and elderly homes.

Office Depot is one of many retailers participating in this program. Being one of the largest participants of this program, Office Depot is an excellent solution for donating your old laptops and computers.

Collected computers will be tested, and refurbished by the Electronic Recycling Association of Alberta. Any computers which are donated but can not be used will be recycled using government certified processors.

Biggest obstacles to date for many residents and businesses have been confidentiality concerns. ERA used RCMP certified software Blancco to erase confidential information at the request of the client. This way your files can never be recovered, and your computer can be used by someone else to help them learn, write resumes, etc.

Residents are urged not to throw away their computers into the garbage as it is a large environmental concern here in Calgary and especially in Edmonton.

Some of the other retailers participating include The Brick, Acrodex, Memory Express, MDG, Laptop Depot and many more in Calgary and Edmonton.
