International Arts Management Awards Announced

Opera Music Theater International, under the direction of James K. McCully, announces the recipients of the Opera Music Theater International Fellowship, a prestigious International Arts Management Award.

WASHINGTON DC (PRWEB) August 18, 2005 -- Opera Music Theater International, under the direction of James K. McCully, announces Opera Music Theater International Fellowship recipients of the prestigious International Arts Management Awards.

Opera Music Theater International created Opera Music Theater Fellowships to help young international arts management fellows obtain hands-on international arts management experience; in-depth knowledge of current trends used by successful international arts managers; and practical application of cutting edge international arts management skills.

With the inauguration of Opera Music Theater International, there was at last a cultural organization dedicated to the international showcasing of opera and music theater through performances, conferences, competitions and training programs for artists, arts managers and cultural officials in a nonpartisan effort to encourage renewed interest in cultural exchange and cultural diplomacy.

Unlike any other organization of its kind, Opera Music Theater International attracted critical acclaim for its contributions and commitment to excellence by developing and fostering unique cross-cultural events, including the International Congress on Singer Training, International Singers Forum, International Composers Forum, International Conductors Forum, International Master Class Series, International Vocal Competition, and International Winners Concert.

As a catalyst to increase cross-cultural education, Opera Music Theater International Fellowships offered highly motivated international arts management professionals a unique program of cross-cultural learning and creative expression; and the opportunity to work with international cultural attaches, international master class artists, international conductors, international composers, international educational events, international cultural organizations, international arts managers, and international emerging stars in concert.

International Emerging Stars have been showcased at The White House, The National Theatre, and Arts Club of Washington in formal concerts under the artistic direction of general director James K. McCully.

Opera Music Theater International over the past seven years has presented International Emerging Stars in concert; as well as, International Arts Management Awards at luncheons sponsored by the International Order of Odd Fellows at the Arts Club of Washington.

International Arts Management Awards recognized outstanding contributions of Opera Music Theater International Fellows who exhibited the highest standards of internationalism, leadership, creativity, and commitment, that together are essential to the success of any international arts manager.

Opera Music Theater International recognized the national need to make these international events available to a broad national public, and served as liaison between embassies, performance venues, cultural organizations, and international artists.

Opera Music Theater International hosted the 43rd National Opera Association Convention sponsored by Musical America with a welcome by Placido Domingo at Kennedy Center; and an International Vocal Competition with International Honorary Chairs Dame Joan Sutherland and Maestro Richard Bonynge at the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington DC.

From its earliest days, Washington, DC, has been an international city, hosting a growing community of diplomats, business men, scholars and immigrants. There are now over 152 embassies or consulates located in the greater metropolitan area, and the international community is estimated in the thousands.

On 13th of August 1991, James K. McCully founded Opera Music Theater International as a nonprofit organization to help international emerging singers, international arts managers, and international cultural officials through international competitions, international performances, international master classes, international conferences, international symposia, and international forums.

Opera Music Theater International (OMTI) positioned itself at the monumental International Trade Center at the prestigious address 1300 Pennsylvania Avenue across from "The Theatre of the Presidents", The National Theatre, on the "Avenue of the Presidents" at Federal Triangle, directly in the center of a triangle connecting The White House, The Capitol, and The Washington Monument.
